Reflecting on my career aspirations, I realized my true passion lies in public service. That is why I was immediately drawn to the University of La Verne's Master of Public Administration program. As a student in the La Verne MPA program, I have been introduced to the universal competencies developed by the NASPAA that align with the program's mission and the areas of emphasis highlighted. Throughout my journey in the program so far, I have worked hard to meet these core competencies and have taken the time to reflect on them. I have realized the significance of critical skills such as effective leadership, active participation in public policy, data analysis, a public service mindset, and efficient communication.
